This border faces west and is designed as a ‘cottage’ area. Aquilegieas are encouraged to self-seed freely so that in the spring there is a stunning display of flowers (at no cost whatsoever).
Large alliums push up between other plants to give a good contrast with the aquilegias.
Later in the summer other cottage plants follow on including campanulas, white roses, phlox, lysimachia, alchemilla, stachys et.al.
After the aquilegias there is a predominance of white flowers in the border.
A seat has been placed on a side path accessed through this border. It faces west and provides a shady place to sit in the morning and somewhere to watch the sunset in the evening.
