This is the part of the garden most seen by those arriving by car. In the winter (October to May round here!) it continues to look interesting as it is mainly planted with evergreens or plants which look good in winter.
Originally there were five Leyland cypress here and a great deal of undergrowth. That was cleared and the ground terraced to provide a small patio near the door, and an island bed with a small pond at the lower level.
